“Mastering Modern AI” with Dr. Agus Sudjianto

On July 7–8, 2025, the Center for TAIMing AI at UNC Charlotte hosted a two-day workshop titled “Mastering Modern AI” at the Dubois Center in Uptown Charlotte. Led by Dr. Agus Sudjianto, Executive in Residence at the UNC Charlotte School of Data Science, the workshop focused on advanced techniques for machine learning (ML) model development and validation. Participants received hands-on training in building inherently interpretable models using methods such as Gradient Boosted Trees, GAMI-Net, Mixture of Experts, and Neural Trees. The sessions also covered robust validation strategies including model hacking, outcome analysis, and diagnostic tools to assess reliability, resilience, and conceptual soundness. Designed for professionals and researchers, the workshop reflected TAIMing AI’s commitment to promoting responsible, trustworthy AI.
