Exploring the Future of Generative AI: Dr. Rahul Singh on Large Language Models
On February 6th, 2024, Dr. Rahul Singh, the Head of the Artificial Intelligence and Automation team in the Advanced Technologies for Modelling (AToM) Group of Corporate Model Risk at Wells Fargo, presented his seminar, “Large Language Models and Generative AI: Deep dive into the landscape and applications,” at UNC Charlotte as a part of The Center for TAIMing AI’s seminar series. In this seminar, Dr. Singh discussed the recent breakthroughs in generative AI technologies, more specifically large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT and DALL-E.
Generative AI has gained widespread attention due to its versatility and ability to generate content in various forms, such as text and images. Dr. Singh’s seminar highlighted the core of generative AI—transformer architecture. This architecture is complex and requires sophisticated training methods such as language modeling, instruction fine-tuning, and Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF).
Finally, Dr. Singh’s presentation discussed the developing landscape of generative AI including recent advancements within UNC Charlotte’s Center for TAIMing AI as well as how the center can leverage advancements in technology in its applications. Dr. Singh’s seminar provided attendees with valuable insights into the developing field of generative AI as well as inspiring further exploration and innovation at UNC Charlotte’s Center for TAIMing AI.
